Oggi vi propongo un tool interessate, qualcuno sicuramente lo riterrà inutile altri e ne conosco parecchi, religiosamente attaccati a questa filosofia di vita, lo apprezzeranno. Il tool si chiama vrms ed in pratica serve a controllare se sul proprio pc è installato software 100% free ( libero) .
Il nome non è casuale chi meglio di Stallman potrebbe svolgere un compito così particolare ? Comunque il tool come dice la descrizione non è limitato alla sola distro Debian ma anche a tutte le sue derivate e non’è limitato solo a sistemi basati su Linux .
Note that vrms is not limited to Debian systems only (which means that
it also works with Debian-derived distributions such as Ubuntu). It is
also not limited to Linux-based systems.
Per adesso si limita ad indicarvi i pacchetti non-free ma è previsto prossimamente l’inclusione delle scritture pubbliche di RMS ed altri testi e verranno indicate le questioni morali per le quali non bisogna installarli . Io vorrei proporre anche, lì dove un pc risulti 100% Free che il tool avvii la canzone del Free Software cantata dallo stesso Stallman 
, per intenderci come quando k3b finisce senza errori una masterizzazione.
Future versions of vrms will include an option to also display text
from the public writings of RMS and others that explain why use of each
of the installed non-free packages might cause moral issues for some in
the Free Software community. This functionality is not yet included.
L’installazione su Debian è facilissima :
$ sudo apt-get install vrms
Uso :
$ vrms Non-free packages installed on sidbox bluez-firmware Firmware for Bluetooth devices figlet Frank, Ian & Glenn's Letters googleearth Google Earth, a 3D map/planet viewer rar Archiver for .rar files sauerbraten-data Game content for the Sauerbraten game sun-java6-bin Sun Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (architecture sun-java6-jre Sun Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 (architecture sun-java6-plugin The Java(TM) Plug-in, Java SE 6 tango-icon-theme Tango Icon theme 9 non-free packages, 0.5% of 1876 installed packages.
Beh … posso dirvi che sicuramente si basa sul database di dpkg perchè tra quelle voci dovrebbe spuntarmi anche nvidia e vmware che però ho installato non pacchettizzati deb.
Se qualcuno ha un pc 100% Free posti il risultato
