Linux dmidecode – conoscere angoli oscuri del proprio pc 13 gennaio 2007 - 22:54

Usando sistemi Unix-like a volte è utile per altri svariati motivi sapere informazioni avanzate sul nostro hardware, per fare questo oggi vi presento un utilissimo ed importantissimo tool che ci elencherà tutto quello che supporta la mobo direttamente dal bios. Le informazioni sono multiple e vanno dall’ elecare quanti slot di ram ha , quant’è la memoria massima che supporta se la scheda video è AGP o PCI-E, che cpu monta e che voltaggio ha che clock e quanti Ghz , se supporta ISA, se PNP, se supporta APM o/e ACPI ….. e molto molto altro.
Il tutto si riduce a questo tool ” dmidecode – DMI table decoder” tra cui cito gli autori elencati nel man ” Alan Cox, Jean Delvare” che credo spero conoscerete bene o almeno avrete sentito nominare. Prima di proseguire con un po’ di combinazioni di comandi, cito la descrizione del tool :
The Desktop Management Interface provides a standardized description of
a computer’s hardware, including characteristics such as BIOS serial
number and hardware connectors. dmidecode provides a dump of the DMI
data available from the BIOS. It is used as a back-end tool by other
hardware detection programs.
Installazione su Debian :
sudo apt-get install dmidecode
Uso :
Vogliamo sapere la marca della nostra mobo? :
$ sudo dmidecode --string baseboard-product-name
LanParty 875P-T
Vogliamo sapere che tipo di bios abbiamo ?
$ sudo dmidecode --string bios-vendor
Phoenix Technologies, LTD
Vogliamo sapere che di che data ?
$ sudo dmidecode --string bios-release-date
03/25/2005
Vogliamo sapere che tipo cpu abbiamo ?
$ sudo dmidecode --string processor-version
Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU
Vogliamo sapere che frequenza è la nostra cpu ?
$ sudo dmidecode --string processor-frequency
3400 MHz
Vogliamo sapere tutto ?
$ sudo dmidecode | less
Vi mostro solo la parte iniziale dato che l’output prodotto è kilometrico , il resto guardatelo sul vostro terminale e stupitevi.
